Calendar

In order to assure the safety of our dance community, we have suspended in-person dances until further notice. We look forward to seeing you as soon as we can!

Until we can meet again, we would like to invite you to join the fun and community….online!

This month’s virtual event will include a concert and social hour featuring The Atchisons!

Bob and Melissa Atchison

Join us:
Saturday, September 19th
7:30-8:15pm

About the musicians:
For 40 years Melissa and Bob have shared old-time music together. Their music was strongly influenced by Missouri fiddlers and musicians they met in Columbia, Missouri during their college days and later in Mountain View, Arkansas where Bob won a state fiddling championship. There they performed at the Ozark Folk Center, the Grandpa Jones Dinner Theater and at regional festivals. This concert includes a 45-minute set of songs and tunes using fiddle, banjo, guitar mandolin and harmonica.

In addition to their music interests Melissa has just finished a Master of Divinity from the Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary and Bob works for K-State with the Kansas Forest Service. They live in Manhattan and have 4 children.

We encourage our dancers to help support the musicians who play for us during this pandemic. Bob and Melissa prefer that you support their efforts by contributing to a cause that is near and dear to their hearts. Bob writes “If people wish to show financial support there is tremendous need in Gaza right now because of COVID and their humanitarian suffering.” Please consider contributing through the Middle Eastern Children’s Alliance to the Youth Vision Society at https://secure.everyaction.com/JkiApGXBskq8WNeoIrDQ7w2.

If you are on our mailing list keep an eye on your inbox for more information on how to participate. You can also check our Facebook event page for more details!
